General eligibility conditions demand that a candidate must be - a citizen of India (subjects of Bhutan, Nepal, Tibetan refugees or migrants from the rest of the Indian subcontinent with the intention of settling permanently in India can also apply) ; 10+2 or an equivalent examination must also be cleared.
In addition, candidates must be physically fit in accordance with the prescribed physical standards ; they should be unmarried males in the age group of 16.5 - 19 years.
Technical graduates in specified disciplines between the ages of 20-27 years are recruited in the Technical Graduates Commission and the Short Service (Technical) Commission. There is a Women's Special Entry Scheme (officers) for women graduates in specified subjects between 19-27 years of age. Graduates and postgraduates in subjects like law, veterinary science, medicine, etc. and between the ages of 21-25 years are also recruited in the army.
Educational Qualification:
(i) For Army Wing at National defence academy:12th class pass of the 12th pattern of school Education or equivalent exam.conducted by a state Education Board or a university
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy: 12th pattern of school Educationor equivalent with Physics & Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of School education or equivalent examination can also apply.
